Up until today I was sure that McCain would win..and I've always thought he'd win by alot. I didn't take into account just how unfair the press was going to be. It's a never ending drumbeat, like the article that was posted last week. It's unrelenting..and it's always negative towards McCain and positive towards the "ONE." But it looks like it's working and we might have a President BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA. I'm glad my Father is not alive to see this.
We need big prayers, people..I don't know what it's going to take. I can't believe people think the Dems will be better for the economy.
We allowed the press do beat up Bush so badly that he's just a shell of a President. Some of it was deserved, but the level of it was not. And we just let it happen.
For the first time in years, I am depressed about the future.
For the sake of the country, I believe Hillary would have been a better President. Like Rush, I thought Obama was unelectable. I'm just numb right now to think that my beloved country is SO DAMN STUPID.
I know there's a mountain of ammo, but I see most of it here on FR, or on anti-Obama blogs, or hear it on Rush, Hannity, etc. The problem is... it doesn't get OUT THERE. FReepers and conservatives are grumbling about all the TRUE negative stuff about Obama, but it isn't getting out there to non-political junkies like us.
After this week, I'm convinced the only way to keep Obama out of the White House is to "swiftboat" him in October. But how???
Good post in #44, DBrow... you really gave me something to think about. ;-)
It IS getting out there, just because you don’t see it on the MSM doesn’t mean it’s out there.
We’re going to win this the same way we did with Reagan, by using Fox News, Talk Radio, Free Republic, our blogs, our e-mails and all the other forms of alternate media that swept Reagan in with 2 landslides.
WE didn’t allow the press to beat up Bush..
BUSH allowed the press to beat up Bush.
I’m not really a Rush listener, only read his site and the threads on here when I can, and didn’t understand OC until a Freeper expained it to me many months ago, back before Super Tuesday.
“Without Operation Chaos, this problem would be even worse” I think so too.
Youre a-whistlin past the graveyard, Bob.

So for the months leading up to the election I’ll be optimistic and happy and you’ll be pessimistic. I’ve already won a significant victory, my mental health. ; )
I trust my instincts, they’re almost always right, even when I betray them (damn, she was hot though). I’m not one prone to hyperbole, nor was I predicting big victories the past 2 elections for President.
Everything I do I research, I don’t like being mediocre at anything, and I wouldn’t be putting myself out there calling a landslide on some flight of fancy. I’m locked in on what’s happening this election.
No way in hell Obama wins, or even comes remotely close, I don’t care if Wall St. crashes tomorrow and every headline and news story is: 2nd Great Depression: Everyone Agrees It’s the Republicans Fault.
I have no blinders on, my eyes and ears are wide open. The MSM is doing NOTHING NEW, I wish it wouldn’t depress so many people here, NEVER let those bastards win THAT battle with your mental health, don’t waste any time feeling gloomy, you never get those days back.
I'm not sure if your comment is tongue in cheek or not... obviously there was no Fox News nor internet in the Reagan era. Virtually no conservative talk radio shows either back then.
I think Reagan ended up being elected (thank God) because Jimmah Carter was SUCH a horrible President... the tide turned to the Republicans.
The current vicious media has made President Bush into such a monster (news outlets are already blaming Bush and linking McCain to the near-collapse of the US economy) that I fear the tide will turn back to the democRATs...
And maybe the worst thing: The electorate gets dumber every 4 years, IMO. They have no concept of what's going on in the country, too busy watching American Idol, playing video games, distracted by this and that. Unfortunately, many of these dolts come out and vote on election day, thus cancelling out our informed votes.
Finally, sadly many relatives of mine who were "Reagan Democrats" have died since the Reagan era. I'm sure FReepers know thousands of these good people - many from the Greatest Generation - who are now gone and can't contribute to this election. Who's replacing these good people? The "American Idol" voters I mentioned above...
Honestly, and I believe I am in the minority, I do not believe Operation Chaos had enough impact to sway who won the nomination. I believe the polls that consistently showed that the number of Republicans who voted in the Democratic primaries were typically within the eventual margin of victory. And that doesn’t even consider the fact that the actual votes they cast seemed to have been pretty evenly split.
I believe the impact was purely psychological, and it did serve to make many on the right feel better at a time their race was settled and they were saddled with a candidate they were not thrilled with.
Or in the words of our first Republican President, Abraham Lincoln: "Elections belong to the people. It is their decision. If they decide to turn their back on the fire and burn their behinds, then they will just have to sit on their blisters."
There is nothing to support your statements. This is much closer than you think.
You forget that we see things differently than the average people do. They do not think beyond the sound bite. They do not see the beyond the words or care to look for the facts.
We do not have a strong communicator (except Palin) and even Palin is being tainted every day. Additionally the financial crisis is made for the dems. Again, most citizens do not know the real details nor care to find out.
Additionally tell us what is looking so good when you must consider the citizens are going to put the dems back in control of Congress again.
If the citizens were aware or concerned Washington will be crawling with protesters tomorrow burning Reed, Dobs, Pelosi, Frank, et-al in effigy and demanding they step down.
Don't bet on that. The citizens do not care, nor care to find out. And Obama is not finished or the dolt you think him to be.
This is an election to fear.
From your mouth to God's ears about McCain winning! (I must confess I got a little encouraged tonight as one of my 24-year-old son's friends, a committed liberal, switched to McCain having seen the Friday night debate and Obama at his best.)
I’m not sure if your comment is tongue in cheek or not... obviously there was no Fox News nor internet in the Reagan era. Virtually no conservative talk radio shows either back then.

If you’re not sure, I’ve clearly identified your first problem. LOL
Many of the American Idol voters you mention also post on DUmmy message boards, and let me let you in on a little secret, many of them DON’T vote.
Many of us know Reagan Democrats who HAVEN’T died, so cheer up. As for the greatest generation, many of those are the HARDEST to get to stop auto-pulling that “D” lever. My own mother for the first time EVER, will NOT vote for a “D” President. You are worried about the voting bloc that NEVER shows up, cheer up.
There is nothing to support your statements.
_______________
I have tons of evidence to support my statement and have posted it NUMEROUS times, thanks for dismissing me out of hand though.
Dems are going to win Congress because of the “Republican” Party who conceded the house and Senate before the election by choosing not to run candidates AT ALL or Rino’s in competitive and even RED districts. The RINO’s were afraid of Reid and Pelosi and their intimidating 9% approval rating.
Obama is finished and he is the dolt I think he is. If he had to debate me instead of McCain he would have resigned by now out of humiliation. ; )
You are absolutely right! A strategy which, at the time, I thought was crazy. I wish I could go back to some of my posts where I warned people over and over that Obama was the dangerous one. Everyone was so afraid of Hillary and I said that the Clinton Machine couldn’t hold a candle to Obama. How I wish I had been wrong!!
I agree. I never thought I’d see the day when Bill Clinton actually seemed almost conservative but compared to Obama, he does. Wouldn’t it be ironic if the Clintons somehow are the ones who wind up saving the country from Obama?
“If he had to debate me instead of McCain he would have resigned by now out of humiliation. ; )”
No doubt. But you are probably more informed than most, you are a member of FR! If only they allowed pinch hitters in the debate!
Still I do not think the election is a sure thing, and stand by my opinion of the general electorate. They care little beyond their own lives, and care not to learn more than they need too.
Time Magazine took the time to contact me - but not one conservative talk radio host has. Why is that?
Don't expect the MSM to help - they are all supporting Obama.
So what can you do...?
Call people like Rush and ask him to cover the story from Southeast Asia.
What else can I do here?
I was at the checkout at Walmart yesterday. The checkout clerk was a young guy in his late teens early twentys and he started talking about the election. He said he just couldn't wait for the election cause he just knew McCain was going to win and when he did he was joining the Navy! He said he would never take orders from BHO. He said he would never call him CIC. He said he and his girlfriend had watched the debate and had a big laugh about the way Obama was trying to impress the muslims with his pronunciations of Pakistan and taliban. He said that all his friends and his girlfriend were voting for McCain. What struck me was his enthusiasm and optimism. I thanked him and told him he gave me hope for this country after all. He said yes, maam and thank you. I left the store feeling very optimistic.
Make your calls every day, make contacts, learn peoples names, make a pest of yourself, be a salesman. Keep chopping wood, eventually there will be a pile.
I noticed all the people who have registered in the last few monthes, too. I think they have registered to be here for election night. They think we are going to lose and want to be here to enjoy the suffering they think they are going to see. Because DU shuts down and only lets in paying customers when they lose, they think we will do it, too so they want to be registered early and get in some posts here. I bet if a person checked, they will have donated 5 or 10 dollars. They are looking at FR through DU eyes.
