Yea after my Gators did their annual choke job against an SEC West foe and the Puppies got spanked for 3 qtrs versus Bama it is amazing that Vandy is atop the standings. They are always scrappy and well coached against the SEC foes, problem is they goto places Michigan and get creamed and never quite break through.

Even though I’ an alumnus of another SEC school, I've got to congratulate Vandy. A job well done, so far. And even though the Gators and Dogs lost, football in the SEC is fantastic. The ACC, on the other hand, has hit rock bottom.

As a long time SEC fan, that is sweet. Poor ol' Commodores, unfortunately the perennial doormats, all alone at the top. Good for you!!!!

Hey, 'Bama fans--this ought to be appropriate for a Sunday morning:
Dark is the stain that we cannot hide
What can avail to wash it away?
Look! There is flowing a crimson tide
Brighter than snow may you be today.

Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin.

Julia H. Johnson & Daniel B. Towner, 1911

Could it be that Julia Johnson, a Presbyterian from Illinois, and Daniel Brink Towner, the great Methodist hymn writer from Pennsylvania, were University of Alabama football fans?

What’s interesting is that Alabama’s next potentially tough game will be at LSU on November 8, 2008. If coach Nick Saban can keep the team up on a high standard of play they will end up in Miami to play for the BCS Championship.

Our former Pastor was a Vol fan and there were many rabid Aubies in the congregation also. They were all a bit uncomfortable with that hymn! I just smiled and sang. :)

That being said, it is the chorus that still brings a tear of praise to my eye.

THAT is going to be an interesting game on several levels. I believe it will be a night game...meaning lots of tailgating time before the game. That plus LSU's 'issues' with Nick Saban on top of a well-performing Crimson Tide... it could get a bit scary! Even Mount Crushmore (Cody Terrence) could need a bodyguard for that crowd! lol

Then we face that other school which hates us the most! :)

Auburn? Surely you jest. Given the fact that Auburn seems to have serious problems trying to score, they are going to get killed in the Iron Bowl at the rate things are going.

AT LSU at night is a tremendous obstacle. Alabama will have to be about 3 TDs better (on a neutral field) than LSU in order to win.

You know what they say about the Iron Bowl, the games leading up to it don't matter, the slate is wiped cleaned.

Obviously you missed out on the AU talking points... every team Auburn has played have been POWERHOUSE teams (POWERHOUSES i tell ya), whether they've won ugly or lost. And, according to AU, every team Alabama has beaten are 'East Popcorn University'. Even Richt said, before last night's game, that "All Bama's opponents have been very bad" and our wins were not "impressive".

Don't know what tune (dirge) he's singing this morning. lol

Thru my Crimson-colored glasses, where we play, what time of day, what color jersey's etc, have no meaning. It's all about playing all 60 minutes of the game and bringing our best to every single down.

Some call it kool-aid, but I just call it good coaching. ::said in my best Forrest Gump voice:: lol

Maybe, but Steely Dan was:

I’ll learn to work the saxophone,
I’ll play just what I feel.
Drink scotch whisky all night long,
And die behind the wheel!
They got a name for the winners in the world,
I—I want a name when I lose.
They call Alabama the crimson tide,
Call me deacon blues!
