How about re-reading my original question? For the 3rd time the question was what was the “primary” class responsible? Or was it equally spread? you don’t know. fine. Perhaps no one does. But it is a basic question that so far that I have not seen addressed. No point in acting like a jerk about it.

I am just wondering what class of people were primarily responsible for the defaults - low income, middle income or wealthy speculators? ...... plain talk

All of the above. See Post 73. All classes of borrowers, low income, middle income and high income were used as tools in the Pigeon Drop scam. Investigators have even found mortgages made out to DEAD people! .... Polybius

All of the above? duh. .... plain talk

No point in acting like a jerk about it. ...... plain talk

The record shows that the first one that "acted like a jerk" was you.

As to your original question, it is analogous to asking, "Which class of people primarily eats food and primarily breathes oxygen?"

They ALL do.

If your question is, "Which class of people eats the most food by VOLUME and breathes the most oxygen by VOLUME?", then the answer would be the middle class because, in the United States of America, those who are classified as "middle class" constitute far and away the most numerous "class".

Likewise, although the low income class, the middle class and the high income class are all defaulting on the ill-advised purchases they made in their respective stomping grounds, the so-called "middle class", by their sheer numbers, account for most of the VOLUME of the bad debt.

Middle Class Suburban Neighborhoods Turned Into Trailer Parks By Foreclosure .... a rather nice community in Northern California ..... He noticed a long line of campers up and down the street and asked what was going on. Another man involved in the foreclosure process told him those people were previous homeowners who lost their homes to foreclosure. Such a large number of homeowners in the area have lost their homes that they were given permission to camp out on this suburban street. In other words, a suburban neighborhood of homes has been transformed into a trailer park, due to foreclosures.
