I don't think so. We've had plenty of events where such a thing should have gotten the ball rolling.

Thanks to dogwhistles like some posting on this very thread, the masses just considered it "kooks at play", rolled over, and went back to watching Amerikan Idle.

Remember a few years ago when all the illegal immigrants took of of work, and demonstrated. I think that scared a lot of people. I could see another demonstration like that happening, and then some sort of skirmish starting.

I just feel a lot more tension with people seeing the country we grew up in disappearing.
