Erin Brockovich working for NYC law firm NEW YORK - The legal crusader portrayed by Julia Roberts in the Oscar-winning film "Erin Brockovich" is now working for a Manhattan personal injury law firm that specializes in asbestos cases. The real Erin Brockovich signed a consulting contract with Weitz & Luxenberg and will be involved in soliciting cases and investigating claims. Brockovich told the New York Post: "I'm hands-on and they're hands-on so it will be a team effort." Already the 48-year-old Brockovich has filmed two TV commercials for the law firm seeking individuals who may have contracted lung cancer from exposure to asbestos, the Daily News reported. Brockovich also consults with a West Coast law firm, Girardi & Keese. Roberts won an Oscar for her portrayal of the environmental activist in the 2000 movie. The film focused on how Brockovich led a 1996 water pollution case that won residents of a small California desert town a $333 million settlement from a state utility company.

She isn't aging well....
What interests me is that she’s showing up on TV ads endorsing Republican Tony Strickland’s bid for the California State Senate. Does anyone know why? I haven’t had a chance to dig into it to find if Tony’s sold out on something important.
“She isn’t aging well....”
No joke. Looks like too much sun.
Of course, she wasn’t as good looking as Roberts to begin with.
Erin lives in that district. She may have inked a deal wit a NYC firm but she is a CA resident. She has been a client of mine in the past.
She is essentially doing the job of a carnival barker - the guy who stands out front and tries to convince the crowd to pay $1 to see the two-headed baby.
But somehow she has managed to turn a single case 20 years ago into an ongoing career (mostly on the motivational speaking circuit).
She doesn’t look good for only 48. I’ve been told by someone who new her when she was younger, that she was drop-dead beautiful.
The article says she's only 48...ye gads.
With a little Googling I think I answered my own question. The following quote is from a left-wing outfit that tries to give the impression of being an "impartial" source of info on Ventura County politics. Interesting stuff:
"Celebrity crusader Erin Brockovich has turned her back on the people and issues that made her famous. Brockovich did a commercial for Tony Strickland touting him as some one who gets things done. The only thing we have seen him do is support polluters, tobacco and insurance companies against the best interests of the people of California.
"Inquiries show that her former boss Ed Masrys son, Louis Masry, has higher political aspirations, ran a failed council campaign in Moorpark and has strong ties to the Stricklands. He donated $2,000 to the Strickland campaign. We think she was pressured to help out Louis political career. Jam her email inbox with mail:"
Nice. To make things even more interesting a very far Left Muslim woman born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, named Ferial Masry has been challenging Tony's wife Audra for Tony's former Assembly seat. Audra ran for it and won when Tony was term-limited.
Masry isn't a common name in Thousand Oaks. None of her biographies that I've been able to find spell out her relationship (if any) with Ed Masry, who died in 2005. His wife's name is/was Joette so I'm suspecting he may be a daughter-in-law.
I've seen rattlesnake dens that weren't as tangled-up as this mess.
