I don’t know if I’ll watch the debate or not. I’m actually not all that interested in them in general. I don’t think they’re worthwhile. They’re not ~really~ a ‘debate’ anyway, and the skills that make somebody good at them aren’t skills that have much to do with being President. Normally they all just re-package tidbits from their stump speeches and we don’t hear much that’s new, or frankly even responsive to the questions.
But that said, I suppose I’ll see at least some of it. The discussion about the debate will be interesting. And more than anything— maybe, just maybe, Hussein will truly blow it somehow. That would be fun to watch.
I suspect that McCain will do just fine. He’s good in that sort of venue. Hussein, however, isn’t so good off the prompter. But he’s been preparing and rehearsing for days now so he should have a little more polish on the turd than he usually does. We’ll just have to see.
It would be fun if they veer off the foreign-policy bit a little to discuss this finance fiasco. Then to have McCain blast the 0 with a nice tidy buckshot-laden vent on the true origins of this mess: Democrats in Congress. [sigh]
That would be nice.
My sentiments ~exactly~.
I plan to watch it because I’ve worked myself into a frenzy on theblogs. I need to figure out a way to do this full time. I plan on using the laptop and following twitter and at least one live blog somewhere.
I normally wouldn’t watch. But I think this one. Or more likely the resulting spin afterward could be pivotal.
Or not.
