McCain goes there to try to solve the problem, and lets Obama twist in the wind. (figuratively of course) Then there's the debate on Friday. Can't it wait?
If McCain accomplishes something in Washington he shows he is more decisive than Obama.

Disagree ... Obama already has the reputation for being all talk and no action ... this will cement that perception.
