What if there is riots if Obama losses the election. If you live somewhere where you think there possibly will be riots, I'd like to ask you a question.
Do you know how many yards it is from your porch to the corner of the building down the street? What about to the far side of that intersection? From your upstairs window to the top of the apartment, the big one in the middle of the next block?
NOW is the time to learn those yardages! Not when you are underfire from a bunch of liquered up fools who know that they have been robbed by our election system.
So, if you intend on staying and fighting for that insured piece of real estate, that's your option. But for Pete's sake get yourself prepared beyond polishing your ammo and wiping off the scope lens with a Wipe 'N Clear. Determine their most obvious routes of attack, their availability of cover, their tools of combat beyond firearms such as dogs and molotov cocktails, etc.
How would you attack your position? Study these questions and that'll give you a better insight as to whether or not you can defend it.

I would hope that by murdering a nice shiny BMW in the middle of an intersection that the driver would decide not to continue on foot. Knowing the exact yardage down to that intersection is what permits one shot kills of those BMW’s.
I’m in NYC though, so anything I may want I’d have to register. If I had the opportunity to debate anybody with power NYC’s Communistic firearms laws, I’d do it. I’d love to be involved in the repeal of firearms laws, and if I’m the catalyst, even better.
We just got rid of our R.D. mail address last year.
No cable back here. More deer than people.
I love it!!
I don’t know, personally I prefer something with a bit more range.
“...Im calling the police and the rifle with the scope is staying in the rifle case.”
That only works if the cops show up in time.
In my area they may not get here before that mob crosses the last 100 yards.
More important than knowing yardage within your field of fire is knowing, as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, the most likely avenues of attack on your position, and knowing how best to counter that attack. If you don't know the topography of your area, learn it. If you don't have a map of your area, get one. If you don't have a good satellite image of your area, get one. Do yourself a favor and do all three. Walk around and drive around your area and study how you would assault your own position, looking for weaknesses. Figure out how to correct the weaknesses. Prepare for the worst. And remember, no battle plan survives contact with the enemy - so you had better have in mind more than a few scenarios.
But beyond shooting, what else? If the power goes off in your home, how well will you function? Eat? Drink? Get rid of waste? Communicate? Can you do all this without catching a round yourself? There is a lot to be said for having a disaster preparedness plan and the supplies to back it up. A disaster is a disaster whether natural or man-made. You have to think of everything (or at least try to.)
I work behind the tables at local gunshows for a FFL dealer - I'm a firearms instructor. It never ceases to amaze me the number of people that have the mentality of "I have a gun and plenty of ammunition, therefore I am okay." These same people have never looked at the position they intend to defend from the attackers' point of view. They have no means of sustaining themselves or their family for any period of time over (let's say) two days. And that is only because they just happen to have a two day supply of groceries in the cabinet. The majority of them follow the thinking of "I'm an American male, therefore I can shoot and defend myself and my family - it's just genetic." Overconfidence has killed many an otherwise smart person.
Another side of this unfortunate syndrome is that the same people that bring their pimped out AR-15 rifle (that is a 5.5 to 8 pound carbine or rifle with an additional 10 pounds of crap fastened on to it that usually turns out to be useless) to the gun show (so that others can see it and "OOOOHH! and AAAH!" over it - they enjoy the jealousy factor) couldn't run a half mile without having a massive coronary. Rambo wannabe's... That will get you nowhere WTSHTF.
I'm not trying to be ugly towards obese people or people that want to pimp out their weapon - what I'm trying to reiterate is this: HAVE A PLAN BEYOND A WEAPON AND PLENTY OF AMMO! If you can't run, you'd better be able to defend your position until the end. And in order to do so, you need to be able to outlast a seige.
Were I a betting man, I would wager that we will see lots of posts of "BLOAT!" (buy lots of ammo today!) in threads over the oncomeing weeks. And while my philosophy is that you can never have too much ammo, you can not eat or drink ammo, or use it to patch a wound... You have to think things through...
oncomeing = oncoming
How can you tell that the driver of the BMW is a rioter?
If he is a rioter, why should he "continue"?
BTTT
The Korean’s weapon of choice even being on a rooftop was a shotgun. There was one car that came into the parking lot of the Korean’s supermarket. The Korean’s didn’t open fire.
From the looks of this thread, you’re in danger if you don’t have concertina and claymores.
Maybe you should get busy and grid your neighborhood in case you need air support or arty.
You call the cops no matter what because it shows as a record you were in dire need of help. After creating a record of my need, I might be in a position where I pray they don’t show up.
If you watched someone hijack or steal a car during a riot and were able to stop them in a fashion that didn’t harm them at all, ie. a hole in the engine block, would you do it? I possibly would.
Knew you were military from your post........i could’nt have said it better.
I have several weapons available for my defence...long,medium and short range effective, and i know how to use them.(i doubt if there will be massive riots...so i may not need the firepower, but i WILL be prepared.)
I would let them have the car.At least they would be out of the area and be less of a risk.(i suppose youm have some ap rounds for your weapon)
Take a few more minutes to ponder exactly what you wrote. Seriously, take a few minutes and think it over.
I think real civil unrest would go beyond a bunch of kids breaking store windows. I think you’d need a total breakdown in order; no communications, no official presence, no real way to avoid violence.
That’s strictly from a legal perspective of course. If you need to take a shot to protect innocent life, you do it, and talk to your lawyer as soon as possible. But in most cases I would see engaging a group at 100+ yard ranges as a military action, and I would be nervous about trying it unless I were in something that really resembled a war zone.
REMEMBER: We are talking about RIOT CONDITIONS, not your standard balmy day in America.
