Everyone should have 30 gallons of gas stored away in case of an outbreak of bird flu or the apocalypse or whatever.

I’ve got that much stored just by keeping my rigs full (20 gal in one Chev, 18 in the other, and a near full tank in my Nissan, 10g)

But I have another 75 stored for my generators or whatever.

I haven’t seen anything of the sort in Memphis. 3.46 at Kroger and no waiting.

Doesn’t matter how far you are from the Gulf. It’s the wholesale cost that is driving the price up.

Filled up here in north Georgia for $4.49 a gallon, and prices jumped above $5.00 a gallon for the super unleaded within another half-hour. My wife and I kept our receipts, and I also wrote my government representatives and urged them to hammer the Democrats on domestic production. We all know that this is the right thing to do, and the Republican party can ride this issue to TOTAL VICTORY!

3.34/gal also in Richmond this morning. Saving my “fuelperks” discount for when it gets worse.

I must have passed 20 stations and all were backed up. I paid $3.99 at one and didn’t have to wait an hour for gas. This was at 8 PM around the Hickory Ridge Mall area.

Now I heard it was that Jackie Broyles and Dunlap over at Jackies Market in Murfeesboro thet was hoarding all that gasoline.

That what I heard.

Is Kentucky really in line of the hurricane?

We live in Estill Springs, half-way between Tullahoma and Winchester. I was in both of those towns today and saw gas prices ranging between $3.69 and $5.29 (one station in Winchester) a gallon for regular. Other than the one station, the highest I saw was $4.39 for regular.

While out and about, I was listening to Phil Valentine’s radio program and a man called from Murfreesboro. He said he’d just gassed up and the station owner showed him a fax he’d received from the gas company today. The fax stated that he had to raise the price to $5.41 a gallon in the morning! My first thought was, “Did other stations get similar faxes?”
How much truth there is to what he said, we’ll soon see I suppose.

I hope you’ll let us know if this proves to be true in the ‘Boro.

Went out this morning and the Kangaroo had gas for 3.79/gal and a note to please keep your purchase to 10 gallons or less so their supply would last longer. That’s the cheapest i’ve seen it. Other stations are in the $4 range or are out of gas completely.

We have to go to a wedding in Lebanon today so I’ll look around there and see what it looks like on 231.

Thanks for the update. It looks like that guy who called in about the fax was wrong. Or maybe that station is like the one in Winchester and will be the only one with gas over $5 a gallon.

I’m heading into Winchester shortly and will swing by that station to see if they still have their prices up, or if they’ve brought them down today.

From what I’m hearing, it the distribution channels that are pricing the gas high to the stations. I’ve got a friend that runs the Dodge’s station here in town and they’re not getting more gas until Tuesday of next week. I’m not sure where they stand on price or amounts as of now.

Lebanon had gas anywhere from 3.89 to 4.05 just depending on where you go. BP and Chevron seems to be the higher and Kangaroo seems to be keeping prices lower.

Today we were out for a little while and saw a range of 3.89 up to 4.19. It was strange because some places looked to be out of gas when we went out, but as we were returning home they appeared to have gas. Odd because we didn’t see anyone getting shipments..

It may have been the distributor who sent the fax that the man was talking about, and that’s the price it’ll be when the next shipment is delivered.

Prices around here seem to be about the same as yesterday, including the one that has regular over $5 a gallon. I did pass one station today that I didn’t pass yesterday and the prices for their regular, mid-grade, and premium made me do a double-take.....
$4.39
$5.39
$5.49
That’s a big jump between regular and mid-grade.

From the talk on Channel 5 tonight, we can expect prices to rise even more, and rationing for a while.
Shades of ‘73. *siiiiiigh*
