I was wondering why Senator McCain would even bother going on this show, and I think I found my answer. He made a specific point about how he has offered to meet with Barack Obama in a town hall format many, many times to no avail. He asked the View panel to ask Barack Obama to come on the View with him. There was a bit of "wouldn't it be nice if we could sit and talk," blah blah from Senator McCain. I think he is trying to point out that Barack Obama won't debate him one on one, even on a show like The View which couldn't be more in Obama's corner. Obama is going to have to come up with some repetitive excuses to avoid such meetings. It occurred to me that making that proposal/request could have been Senator McCain's reason for appearing. I think it was a pretty good idea. I think Senator McCain is trying to press Obama on the face to face meetings-- makes Obama look like a coward.

My vote for Most Infuriating Moments: Whoopi Goldberg, constitutional scholar, on slavery; Joy Behar on Senator McCain's ads being "lies," (which he did refute, but I think could have been more emphatic); and Whoopi Goldberg on separation of church and state. What has Governor Palin done to violate separation of church and state? No one ever has a problem with Obama and all his ministers, advisers, his faith, etc.

I think McCain is simply saying I can handle any adversity that comes along, and am not afraid of those who don’t agree with me or support me.

This comes from him, not an advisor, focus group, or political wind.

He is a true hero, not a Talking Head.

I know he couldn’t answer Whoppie’s question about whether or not he wanted her to be a slave again in a flippant way, but IF HE COULD ... he should have said, “Whoppie, I’ve actually been chained up and beaten. HAVE YOU?”
