It must be unnerving for a celebrity to see the same cultural mechanisms lift someone to their same level of fame when they consider this person unworthy in their eyes. I try not to get euphoric over Palin, because fame is fleeting in this country, and the worm will surely turn. However, Obama is like the football team that has never had to come from behind to win a game. This may be the test of his character. Playing with enthusiasm is easy when you're winning. Losing is the test.

They lost me on “Jurassic Park” a few minutes into the movie, when one line of dialogue was that huge leaves from a prehistoric tree had fallen into the jeep. Supposedly, not only did they hatch out huge dinosaurs real quick from a mosquito in amber carrying dinosaur blood DNA, they also took seeds from huge trees that were in some bug in amber, planted them on the island, got them fully grown in a year or two in time for leaves to fall in some scientist’s lap. Then when a herd of medium sized dinosaurs whisked through the crowd of scientists without trampling them or the grass, or making any noise . . . I quit trying to believe it any more.
