LEBANON, Va. -- "That's not change," Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said of what Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is offering.
"You know, you can put lipstick on a pig," Obama said, "but it's still a pig."
The crowd rose and applauded, some of them no doubt thinking he may have been alluding to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's ad lib during her vice presidential nomination acceptance speech last week, "What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick."
‘You can’t put lipstick on a pig’ is an old saying. It was used when I was a kid, long before full Metal Jacket was made.
He was NOT calling Palin a pig. I hate stupidity, even when it is on the right.
I agree with you after seeing the video.
It certainly was not a very bright thing to say. His audience seemed to get an extra chuckle out of it, obviously making the connection with Gov. Palin and her lipstick comment. Why that didn’t occur to Mr. Harvard grad, I don’t know?
He is only doing himself more harm....
::rolling my eyes and clapping my hands::
A gaffe a day keeps the presidency away.
How utterly pathetic.
I somewhat had the same type of though,
“You can put a suit on obamawama and he still looks like Dumbo”.
They would give him a pass even if he TOLD them there was 57 Islamic states. There are those here who say we shouldn’t make fun of his gaffes but if we don’t who will? I will only let up on him after we win in Nov. and hope that Paylin has long coattails! If she can lift MaPain as high as she has then amybe she can help a bunch of the down ticket Republicans.
Paylin=Palin
I don’t know which is more offensive, but Obama IS running for President, for God’s sake. For him to get down to the level of pundits does NOT look well on him, it diminishes him. imho.
Just keep digging your hole deeper, Barry.
I did send it to the McCain people. I even corrected the spelling forst!!!!!
This boy needs to have his mouth washed out. He has no manners.
