I am helping a local Republican get a Website going.
Any suggestions of where to look to buy domain names?
How about places that would help with a design?
I've heard frontpage doesn't always come across well on a MAC?
Whats the best? Dreamweaver?
I strongly suggest looking into Drupal for a content management system. It has very decent blogging, news, and forum functionality and appearance can be easily changed with themes.
Try Godaddy.com. dancia Patrick (and Dale, Jr.) does ads for them. 1.99/year!
Thanks!
My wife sells websites that the owner can gon in and change at anytime without having to pay someone else to do it
PM Kanawa.
He’s got it all figured out.
:-)
The web building utility is adequate.
For someone just starting out it would probably suffice.
I'm still learning its ins and outs.
I'd like to check your friend's site out while he develops it.
You can send me link when he gets one if you'd like.
Here's the one I'm working on....http://www.canadalovessarah.ca/
Looking forward to seeing what other advice you get. Thanks for posting thread.
You could try http://www.homestead.com. They have a decent website builder and plenty of templates and lots of extras.
Great place to start (keep in mind this is where I learned as a thirteen year old girl. But it is simple): Lissa explians it all
Also all my html professors have drilled into my head KISS, or Keep it simple stupid for websites. Just some tips.
Very often the State and county Republican parties have all of this taken care of, that is all you need to do is contact them, they can add your candidates info into a template and it can be hosted via contract negotiated by the Republican party with a 3rd party hosting company.
second option is to use any of the web hosts in the responses above, then buy a template and place your candidate’s info into it, then upload it.
for example:
http://templates.entheosweb.com/keywords.asp?ke=politician
http://www.nice-layouts.com/website-templates/category/politics/
It can get you up and running in no time.
ALSO, if you intend to do over the internet credit card donations, you’ll need to create an account with one of just a handful of merchant CC processing companies that are set up to handle the required reporting information necessary for campaign finance laws, local and state.
What I am looking to do is create a message board, where we can post editorials, news, bills and bill analysis for a group of Republican women to reference and discuss.
We don't need a Blog, there are plenty of those out there already.
Sort of a 'mini-mini-mini' FR.
I don't know the first thing about locating the proper site and software. I just know it needs to be done.
Facebook would be perfect for that
You will be amazed at how quickly and cheaply you can create a professional-looking campaign website with this service. Give it a try. They have a free trial, sample sites, etc.
Thanks!!!
Use GoDaddy.com That’s what I use for all my clients.
Register.com is a bit expensive. GoDaddy.com and 1&1.com are cheaper.
If you haven’t ever used Dreamweaver before - it’s not a short learning curve! I use it, Adobe GoLive, WebPlux X2 among others and Dreamweaver is excellent but not for the faint of heart to learn.
I use godaddy for all my sites. Reasonable prices and excellent support.
I’m thinking of doing a site myself, will decide tonight.
I have a question as well. WHen doing a political website, would it be best to have your identity blocked from whois.org? I mean with all the O-wacko’s out there... My site idea would only be up 2 months until the election is over... what do you experts think?
