9mm is not a real “stopper”
.45acp will stop them
The Germans in WWII loved the 45acp - they manufactured them - some in Norway I believe
Lots of great ammo choices too
A wheelgun is more reliable if a problem occurs
Simply use the next chamber
2 quick large caliber shots to the upper mass is the key
A pistol requires clearing the chamber
Time can kill you
Before you can clear a jammed or damaged cartridge case in a pistol I have already reloaded 6 more .44-40s and fired them
Learn to be firing as soon as you clear leather as you raise your iron
Waiting to see the sights can be fatal
I knew you were well informed on guns.
That’s why I’ll be getting my a revolver.
Disagree. The .45 (which is what I own) has more punch, but often carries less ammo. 2 x 9mm rounds ought to do as well as 1 x .45.
Wheelguns can jam, and when they do, you aren’t going to clear it easily. It is usually dirt jamming between the barrel and cylinder, so popping it open and scraping is required. Autos jam more often, but usually clear pretty easy.
Firing as soon as you clear leather is an excellent way to shoot your foot. Putting bullets into the ground between you and the bad guy doesn’t help stop the bad guy. You don’t need to align the sights - at typical firefight ranges, you can train to shoot accurately from the waist - but there is no advantage to shooting as soon as you clear leather.
If in doubt, use the sights. Most cops miss at close range in firefights, and most bad guys are even worse. Bullets need to hit the bad guy to stop him.
