It was just another lie. He says that he registered for selective service, as he had to, in 1979 when he graduated High School. Only problem was there was no selective service requirement in 1979.

This is right up there with Hillary's "I tried to join the Marine Corps but they wouldn't let me" lie she told.

I'm quite certain that Obama never for one nanosecond considered joining the military at any point in his life.

correct me if i am wrong but in 1979 even though there was no draft didn’t you still have to sign up with the selective service? that way if the draft started again they had a pool to fall back on. i signed up in 1974 at 18 and enlisted myself in 1975. if he did sign up as he says then shouldn’t there be a record someone can find?

Naw, you had to start registering again if you graduated HS after 1977. They have never put the draft into effect, but the requirement to register was there.
