I like your attitude about aging, and life IS interesting. My mother, who lived to be 87 1/2 used to tell me to "keep moving!" lol....and that, to my mind, meant not only being active physically but also mentally. ('use it or lose it').
I remember as a child loudly singing w/other children the song, "Brighten the corner where you are" (you certainly DO!)....and even now, I consider that to be a guide for life.
Just some thoughts: 1) Why not have term limits (2) for Congress? Such a change would bring much needed new blood to the body that makes laws that govern all of us.
2)We should not have to pay other people's mortgages, nor pay reparations to people whose ancestors sold them into slavery but who now have the privilege of American citizenship.
3)If this nation is so bad, why are so many people trying to get here, legally or illegally?
I have to disagree with you on the term limits thing.
Having been there, I’ve seen how the paid staff attempts to lead elected officials into making decisions that don’t necessarily reflect the needs of their constituencies.
With new congress critters arriving every few years it would give the staff even more influence and power.
If they want to make the real decisions they should pound the pavement and knock on doors to get themselves elected instead of taking a staff job that pays 3 times what the elected official is paid.
One thing that bothers me about this repriation thing is, WE DIDN’T SELL THESE PEOPLE INTO SLAVERY!!!!! Their OWN AFRICANS SOLD THESE PEOPLE INTO SLAVERY....we just used them, because the American Natives knew the lay of the land, they couldn’t be kept captive by the people who wanted to use them as a work force. So in order to make their farms productive the farmers bought these people and used them for labor, (we didn’t have machines in those days). What is NEVER talked about are the number of Negros who were slave owners....And they used both Negro and Caucasian slaves. Had it not been for the Christian people of those days, the slaves would never have been taught to read and write, they would never had learned their numbers, they wouldn’t have learned anything.
