I am aware of them. I also know the difference between necessary and elective.
Actually that was my point to you . Are you aware of the US failings . I doubt it.
As for inspiration . Years after you , we copied your income tax legislation, your central bank , your government supported development of your road, canal and railway systems , your trade tariffs , your unemployment insurance, your government run pensions and your public health system . Even your depression era "New Deal " had been called "socialist " , the U.S. Supreme Court judging many of the original New Deal's regulations beyond the power of any American government , when we got around to trying something like it.
Yes we're always looking south for inspiration. Thanks , we really needed all that inspiration.
Look, i really don’t have anything against Canucks. Just their approach to a health plan. Canadians are fine people and we share 95% of the same values. If i were sitting next to a canadian on the flight i’m getting ready to board, i wouldn’t know it. I would assume he was American.
But, this is a fact, suck it up, its the truth.
The US’s GDP is more than 10 xs that of Canada’s. We only have 9x as many people.
The US has a 14% greater GDP per person.
US citizens have 30% more disposable income than Canadians.
The US government already spends more than 150% of what Canadians spend for government assisted health issues in GDP. Its really not that bad here. No one gets denied emergency care.
Our problem is not a “bad” system. Just an expensive one. And I spend a lot of time in airports. People come to the US for cutting edge medical procedures. They don’t go to Canada, or Sweeden or China, they come to America.
The USA is the center of the medical research world. You can’t deny it. Canadian health facilities lag tremendously in technology. And it costs them lives every day. The technology they do have was developed right here in the US. 15 YEARS AGO!!!!
Don’t try and tell me that we need to model ourselves on socialist, 2nd class, non-democratic, anti-capatalistic nonesense. Nobody is asking you to change. I have no interest in how you run your country (and it is a very beautiful country, especially the Yukon and BC).
