I disagree. My neighbor who is 88 years old was a principal of our local high school back in the late 50's to mid 70's.
He said yes girls getting pregnant back then happened but it was extremely rare.
Our town has the same population as it did back then and today the HS has a day care center.
This is liberal gobbity gook that this has happened to the degree it does today. A way of making an excuse for being immoral.
I am certain that is the way he personally remembers it... However, it was almost always the case that the girl quit school or "moved somewhere"! It has only been in recent decades that pregnant girls WERE EVEN ALLOWED TO ATTEND SCHOOL IN THE VAST MAJORITY OF SCHOOL DISTRICTS!
At any case, I still maintain the the way this is being handled by the Palins is far better than the way Liberals would handle it and the significance of this event in assessing Ms. Palin is inconsequential,
I was in school in the 1950s and it was extremely rare. But it happened. It happens with more frequency today thanks to various liberal social factors. But it was not unusual in other times in the recent past in parts of America. In frontier America in the 1700’s and 1800s it was not uncommon. Go back further in western civilization and you will find periods when it was common and others when it was extremely rare.
At any case, I still maintain the the way this is being handled by the Palins is far better than the way Liberals would handle it and the significance of this event in assessing Ms. Palin as a Prseidential or vice-Presidential candidate is essentially incosequential,
