To RAISE them means being there. Mr. Mom apparently didn’t have enough time nor did Mom.

Nothing like absolutes. Mind posting the logs showing the amount of time the Palins spend with their kids?

Don’t need to. BOTH work. Mr. Mom has a less demanding role so it is safe to assume he’s there more often than Mom.

‘Being there’ is certainly critical, and it makes the important parts MUCH EASIER - but in and of itself, it’s not nearly enough. If that were the case, churched families with stay-at-home moms wouldn’t have NEARLY the issues they do. (Not to mention that would mean that all currently single-for-whatever-reason working moms would be automatically condemned to raising miscreants, with no hope of countering it.)

Yes, it is all about being there. Do you really believe that others raising the children of others are more effective? If yes, then explain why kids cry and are angry when dropped off at daycare and ask them why they HATE it there. The early years are so important and then comes the TEEN years which are also more challenging ... . I don’t codnemd the single working Mom but you have to admit it is NOT the ideal and this VP wasn’t forced to work full time.

I recommend this book...I think you’ll find that the reasons Christian kids have troubles go much deeper than simply measuring the amount of time they spend with someone standing over them.

I don’t need book recomendations. I have yet to see “Christian kids” as being more “troubled”. Studies indicate the opposite. I’m sure you mean well ... it’s just that role reversal, Mom working and not putting her kids FIRST are NOT our family values nor do they align with out Biblical beliefs. Our beliefs are those of being selfLESS when it comes to raising our kids.

And certainly not from the likes of me. Go ahead, say it - you seem to want to.

I have yet to see “Christian kids” as being more “troubled”.

Huh? You've never seen any? Perhaps I confused the issue when I said they had issues. I didn't mean they had MORE issues on balance (they DON'T), but have them they do. Sometimes, teens blow it, even though up to that moment, they sure SEEMED to have been "raised right". Of course, it's easy to armchair quarterback them and say "well, obviously not"...but I've known at least one family where I'm not sure what I would have told them to do differently (except that obviously in this case, they overestimated how much to trust their daughter.)

I’m sure you mean well

I'm not sure you're sure, honestly.

Mom working and not putting her kids FIRST

If you want to get really Biblical, it's God, spouse, THEN kids. Kids come at least third. Ministry would be fourth. Work is somewhere after that.

I’m stunned - couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female with adult children to run for Vice President with McCain?
- dr L.

Now I would state it a little differently, couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female?

Maybe, but if McCain wanted someone with executive experience, that meant a Governor or the military. And Palin was probably the only conservative woman governor out there.
The field is only 50 to choose from, unless your obambi then its 57.

Of course there were some other options:

The first woman to head Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego took command today. Brig. Gen. Angela Salinas, who has 32 years in service, took the reins from Maj. Gen. John Paxton Jr., who was named commander of the Camp Pendleton, Calif.-based 1st Marine Division and received his third star today.
