Fortunately this is a fast moving hurricane at 16 MPH and it could get to be just a lot of rain as early as Tuesday night. They then could condense the events into two days.
What they should do is that, right in the middle of RNC events and speeches, they can go to a live feed in New Orleans or Houston and see hwat FEMA & the Red Cross are doing, as well as to talk to the people.
The telethon idea would be wonderful.... I already have my checkbook handy.....
Yes, those are my thoughts exactly. With the gulf coast governors all tied up back at home, a lot of the major speakers like Jindal and Crist had to cancel anyway. They could condense the meat and potatoes part of it to two days and who knows, push it back a day as well so the political stuff happens on Thursday and Friday.
That is what I was thinking. It has sped up to 17 miles per hour and it has broken up just a bit. Due to hit early Monday instead of Tuesday. That is good. And with this news, Michael Moore can head on to Communist Cuba to see if he can help out with the best health care in the world. Idiot.
If they put off the convention, the networks can use that as an excuse for not televising it at all (”Sorry. We had a prior commitment to air ‘My Hubby is a Transvestite’ and can’t possibly air your convention!”).
If the Republicans go the telethon route, they have to do it carefully to avoid looking like they’re exploiting a tragedy. On the other hand, doing SOMETHING other than days full of blowhard speeches from people no one wants to see can’t be a bad thing.
