Once you get the hotfix running, you can uninstall Vista.

Dual booting with Vista is a massive headache, you will find your best answer from Linux forums (people are triple booting Xp, Vista, Linux), because the Vista bootloader destroyed GRUB and LILO bootloaders.

Fortunately I haven't installed Vista on my son's machine yet and my laptop, well, I've been wanting to reprogram it for some time now.

It’s too bad one can’t just install GRUB or LILO to handle the boot order of a computer. That would solve a lot of problems huh.
