Your vanity is wayyyyy better than mine, which was going to be...

IS PIRATE BAY DOWN FOR EVERYONE OR JUST ME? (vanity)

But, seriously, I hope some tech-savvy FReeper is able to help you on this.

My knowledge is pretty much limited to XP and earlier.

You could try placing XP in a virtual machine using VirtualPC? That’s probably the cleanest method, in my book.

Buy a Mac. Install VMWare and both Vista and XP. Can run both at the same time. Easy backup and restore. Works great

There is an update for Windows XP that will update the network settings for workgroups that have mix of XP and Vista machines.

I am expecting to need to do this on Tuesday for a family member in Uni. Thankfully the Uni’s IT dept posted a bulletin about the problem. So if this works (or not), please ping us back and let us know.

Dual boot is not necessary. Follow this:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922120

Make sure to d/l and install SP3 BEFORE you install the microsoft hotfix.

Prerequisites
To apply this hotfix, you must have Windows XP SP3 installed on a 32-bit computer.

I installed a second harddrive, installed Vista on the primary, XP on the other, and if I don’t wish to use Vista I hit ‘F10’ on startup and choose the secondary harddrive as the boot drive for that session.
