Noticed that two planks of the party's platform have changed?
The one about drilling is gone. Buh bye ANWR.
And the new one about global warming? Yeah, that's real conservative. *SARCASM*
Well now that you are home with your like minded, you have no need to spam us with your hysterically ignorant rants Buh bye!
Bad idea. Considering how wholly ignorant of all the facts your are, conspiratoriazlising is your only hope.
most people on this forum were critical of mccain months ago, myself included.
we were surprised that he was the nominee.
now, that’s all passed.
mccain has listened to the conservatives. rush drew a line in the sand on his radio program.
mccain did not pick a pro-abortion vp, etc.
now it’s time to work together to defeat the evil ones.
You’re right, besides, after the election fever has passed, who even notices the VP?
even generals had a low rank when they started. They became Generals for a reason
That’s right, you are voting for Boortz/Man50D ticket because we need the Fart Tax!
Palin knocks Biden on drilling, ties it to national security.
She supports ANWAR drilling. Her husband works on the Northslope on the oil field
McCain supports offshore drilling and will no doubt come around to ANWAR also.
Then again you can vote for Obama who is for no drilling
Rush drew HIS line in the sand.
My line in the sand for McCain is him admitting that campaign finance reform was a frontal assault on the basic concept of America and he’ll burn in hell for eternity for making that a career goal.
He hasn’t gotten anywhere near that one.
You always know you’re in trouble with a candidate when they pick a VP to mollify the base, the VP is supposed to help grab the middle.
“You always know youre in trouble with a candidate when they pick a VP to mollify the base, the VP is supposed to help grab the middle”
This is whats wrong here. The purpose of the VP is not to win elections. The VP is the back up to the president and must be fully capable of being sworn in any second of the day and awesome command, possibly at at time of war.
Sure the INTENTION of the office is as you state, but like Steely Dan said: those days are gone forever, over a long time ago. That long time ago would be when the VP switched from being the guy who finished 2nd to a combined “ticket” running with the P. At that point the VP became about winning elections.
When it comes to VP picks,
The question I think the American people should ask themselves is, “is this person a good back up should something happen to the president”.
What if this happens at a time when a nuclear conflict with Russia is eminent.
Now my first thought is Obama is NOT the person the American people want in this position but at the same time McCains choice seems to be purely political(who can help me win) and not based on what’s best for the country.
If too many Americans lose faith in McCains judgement he will lose by default. It takes only a very small number to hand Obama the election at this time. McCain is gambling with the future of this country.
Every VP choice since 1804 has been purely political. There’s a reason that during this time of year they’re called “running mate”, that is their job.
And really as for taking over in case the P goes down. That’s so rare, and so much weird stuff can happen along the way (look at how Ford became president), that it’s really not a meaningful contemplation. Even with an old fart like McCain in the big chair there’s really no reason to think there’s more than a 1 in 20 chance that his running mate (Palin, but I want to focus on the title here) will get the big chair via succession. Either he’ll live or she’ll be replaced before he dies or some other oddity.
Everybody that’s ever run for president did their moves to win, there’s an assumption in them that their victory is what’s best for the country and whatever it takes is worth it. And everybody that’s ever run for president has gambled with the future of this country, as do we every time we vote.
Pity we don't have a Whig party anymore. McCain and Lieberman would be at home there.
I do wish you would reconsider not voting for McCain. I was just a kid during the Carter years, but I remember it was awful. My best friend, a dairy farmer from SE Ohio still blames the failed economic policies of Carter on his parents' divorce.
You do what you want (yeah, like you need my permission:-)), but Barack wants to socialize medicine, talk with that bearded closeted homo running Iran and that guy wearing chick glasses that's running North Korea.
This is our choice. I'm voting McCain/Palin.
I aggree with all your points also and I hope you are right.
I just don’t like the gamble factor, we (republicans)have to make history just to win. (the first woman VP)
We must win with McCain or this coutry will suffer for decades.
Obama should not be allowed in the White House on a visitors pass, much less even be considered for commander n chief.
Well it’s not that big a history making. She’s only the second woman VP candidate, and the first was going up against a popular presidential incumbent.
I’m not of the opinion that we won’t suffer for decades if McCain wins. He’s anti-free speech, he’s pro-amnesty, and at strange random intervals he “reaches across the aisle” and makes the libs happy. Obama shouldn’t be the president, but really neither should McCain. This is just a sad election year, lots of crappy candidates.
apparently you want
oba mao
to win.
