Overall I think the storm is still running *just* right of the track. It’s maintaining well right now and will be back over water in 2 hours or less. I think we’re looking at another good siezd pressure drop in the GOM, and may even see winds push upwards of 170-180 in or just past the loop current. Decay may be very slow compared to what we’re used to in the northern gom.... or the storm is simply moving too fast. There are some scary model depictions still coming in with a sub 910mb storm hitting LA.
170 or 180 come on! Those are huge numbers.
For that you have to have a storm in the 26 baro level, very rare.
Wish we could see in our crystal ball whether Gustav will weaken.
