Recon data says this is Gustav... not sure if they’ll upgrade before 5 or not, but it’s possible.

whites come back from the laundry pinkish-purple.

We're old pros at this now. No knits. I had a flashback of just how bad it used to be when the grand babies came over Saturday morning (we have gas stove and water heater) and my daughter made breakfast while I bathed the kids.

I forbore the Irish cream in my coffee for the morning while I entertained the 2 and 4 year old. She forgot to grab a change of clothes so they had to wear their Spider Man and Princess costumes(respectively.)

Our youngest is 17. You know he's got to be bored out of his skull to challenge me to not one, but two games of Scrabble. We participated in actual conversation. So, yeah, not a bad deal, until the tree falls.

Uh oh .. not another one. You poor folks in FL .. I don’t miss it one bit. Gets SO wearing. Hope it dissipates and fades away to a innocent breeze, and prayers that you guys stay out of harm’s way.

Up here in the Midwest, they’re predicting a “numbing” winter. Gonna have to stock up on Charmin and canned food.

Areas of northern Minn. could see patchy frost
August 23, 2008

DULUTH, Minn. - Here’s some news you probably hoped you wouldn’t hear for another four months.

The National Weather Service says areas of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin could see patchy frost this weekend. That’s right, patchy frost in August.

And wasn’t it Bush’s fault?

That’s what we still hear today about Katrina.

“I don’t think Fay missed a square foot of Fla.”

Here in Navarre (between Pensacola and Destin) we barely got scratched by Fay, even though the eye went right over our house. We had a day of drizzle on Saturday, and a little storm cell rolled through last night, but nothing along the magnitude of the rest of the state. I don’t think we ever had sustained winds above 20mph.

If you look at Fay’s track you might think she was afraid of Tampa Bay the way she ever so slowly tip-toed around the Bay area! Almost a 225 degree loop. We won’t be so lucky next time.

Bad news for Haiti could be good news for us. Gotta sort of hope this is a Fay redux with island hopping path or there’s going to be big trouble in a few days.
