That says a lot right there.

some cooler water intruding in the runoff from fay
How can you tell?
Good info there. Explains the GFDL intensity forecast perfectly.
Well maybe our two others sucked enough heat out of the water that it won’t get TOO big.
The cooling from Fay should subside prior to Gustav entering the Gulf. That said, I’d tend to think it will peak prior to any U.S. landfall.. though not sure what that really means right now.
Dothan sure seems to get more than its share of severe weather. I drove through there a couple of weeks ago during what you guys would probably call a regular thunderstorm, and it was pretty hairy, IMO. Winds in that were pushing me around on the road.
Drudge has it up, speculating that it will hit NOLA on the eve of the Repub. Convention! Geeez..........
I think I may reschedule my business trip to New Orleans area next week.
“Eeesh...GFDL and NOGAPS models are running this storm toward NOLA.”
GADS! My 24 year old son moved to N’Awlins 3 weeks ago. His girlfriend took a job with Americorps there and my silly boy followed her.
Thank you so much for your hurricane threads. This is one I will be following very closely.

Thanks... that is good news... Looks like it could strengthen early, but shouldn’t “explode” just before landfall.
I really didn’t pay Gutstav much mind earlier, since the tracks all showed it going down the spine of Cuba. It’s be hard to survive that and still pack much punch.
But, now that it’s shifted (and shifting) westwardly... oh my... we could have a real storm on our hands...
This puppy’s nowhere near as BIG as Katrina was at this point... but, looks like it could get wound up pretty tight.

Of course, if GFDL’s right, that peak would be a Cat 5.
That would be a wise decision.
I love how they all avoid Florida. :)
What in the world causes a hurricane to make us want to deep clean the house? It's not like we're going to have visitors (other than the storm). Every woman I spoke with last week was Spring cleaning in preparation for Fay.
No wonder the guys like to go fishing before a storm.
I resemble that remark :-)

I hardly consider Fay a Florida miss. Are you trying to jinx us?

And here's hoping Gustav pulls a U-turn.
