I’ve posted for prayers for Josh a few times. In Nov, 07, he went in for a routine allergy shot. Within 2 minutes of the shot he suffered an anaphylactic shock, severe. That’s what peanut allergies do also. It’s usually immediate death because the lungs swell shut.
Josh went to the floor his last words being “help me”. The ambulance had to be called in another town because the ones in that particular town were all being used.
Valuable time was lost and the clinic had nothing other than epi pen and benedryl. So...by the time the ambulance came it had been too long and he suffered a lack of oxygen injury. (hypoxic/anoxic)
U of M used one of those freezing blankets to cool him and on the 7th day they did an MRI. It turned out very bad but our daughter and her husband would not/could not let him go. The next day he began to do some of the things they’d just told us he’d never be able to do...gag, cough, etc.
After 102 days at Mott’s he’s home but still can’t walk or talk. He’s in a wheelchair and in some ways reminds me of Teri Shiavo. Although at least she could smile. I mean the eyes..He doesn’t have that Josh personality at the moment.
But he has made some very slow progress. He’s back to his weight and even has gained 10 lbs.
He can hold his head up and also is learning how to balance so he can sit up.
Eventually they hope he can use a speaking board but that’s a long ways off.
We’re of course, praying for a total recovery for him....Better than he was before.

Horrific. He will be in our prayers daily (also for a FULL recovery!). How could these shots do that, I just can’t understand. Something that was supposed to help him. UNFAIR. Thank you for telling me Josh’s story. I pray whenever I see such a thread, but I don’t always remember people’s details.
