McCain can cinch this now, with Governor Sarah Palin as VP. Big! (vanity)

Posted on 08/23/2008 8:44:02 AM PDT by Cringing Negativism Network

With the Biden pick, Obama has just opened a huge opportunity for McCain!

If McCain picks Palin, he will win a landslide, not seen since the election of President Ronald Reagan.

For all the same reasons. This could change history.

I think Reagan won because of his policies and principles, and not because of his running mate. All republicans should strive to do the same.

She is a great conservative and an asset to the GOP.

Now let’s get real, do you say this so we can go tit for tat with the Dems? That is not how we should pick our leaders.

And most importantly, she is a mother with 5 children, one being an infant. Don’t you think she has a lot on her plate already???? Hello, I don’t care what you say, you can not mother 5 kids and give the focus needed to be VP.

Does her family count her out for the future?? No, she is young and has plenty of years a head of her. Wait until she does not have so many other responsibilities.

I am from Alaska and she is fabulous. I also have a few personal friends who work for her in state government. She would be an excellent pick. As a parent who lost a son recently (jeremyearnshaw.com) I was amazed to receive a letter of condolence from her. My husband and I were very touch. This gal is bright and personable and honest. She would be excellent!

Yup, we need a pitbull on steroids, not some well groomed toy poodle.

You sure got my number.

It’s time for the GOP to FIGHT.

Enough of the dignified milquetoasts. McCain can so mess up the democrats with this selection, and energize the GOP base like nothing since 1980.

Seriously. This is a fight for the future of America.

It is a fight which can be won. We must win it!! Too much is a stake to get mired in complex questions of whether now is exactly the right time.

America calls.

Do you think she is up to standing toe to toe with Putin, Dear Kim or alumanutjob? The VP is much more than some admin position. The VP has to have the base to pull the strings that need to be pulled behind the scenes, a doer or an operator if you will. Someone that can advise and serve the President with wisdom and experience, not some perfumed princess or prince.

I’m intrigued with Palin as VP choice for two reasons.

1) Pro-Alaskan drilling.
2) She elected to have a child after knowing he was afflicted with Down Syndrome while the baby in Illinois placed in a closet to die was also a Down’s child. Very powerful counterpunch to Obama’s infanticide vote.

Picking her is no more than playing the gender card. Why not pick Condi who is a gender card and a race card?

Disagree. Picking a woman for the sake of getting the "woman" vote is a bad idea. Just look back to 1984 for "Mondale/Ferraro". They got blown out in like 49 states.

The obvious choice here is Mitt Romney.

Say what you will about Joe Biden, but he would eat Palin’s lunch in a debate.

Take that to the bank.

We need a VP that is ready on Day One to be President in a time of war, not somebody that needs training wheels.

Tell Sarah to check back with us in 2012 or 2016.

Sorry, sometimes the truth hurts.

I don’t know enough about Sarah Palin to have a strong opinion ... but if she’s the pick and does well, a Palin-Jindal ticket a few years down the road would be interesting.

So you’re opposed to her candidacy, because she might help?

(sorry not being deliberaly naive here - but what’s the difference between protesting a “gender card”, and simply not wanting a woman on the ticket?)

How can someone, tell the difference? If we must, then let’s change the conversation from how she’ll help McCain pound hapless Obama into tiny bits of electoral pulp and carry 45 states in November on strong coattails up and down the ticket, to drilling in Alaska.

Is that better? :)

/s

You are exactly right, it is time to fight.

So your contender is a 2 yr. Gov. with 5 kids?????????

Let’s get down to business and quit with the can you top this?

McCain is not exactly a spring chicken and we need someone with a huge set of stones to back him up. Think Iran, Iraq, Africa, N. Korea, Russia, etc.

We can’t have someone who is reading the daily intel and worrying about her baby having an ear infection at the same time.

Maybe it’s just the mom in me, but no matter what, my kids come first and foremost. And yes my kids being sick throws me off of my game when it occurs, even after 18 yrs. of dealing with it with 3 kids.

Agree I like her from what we can find but she is relative a new comer. What is her position on immigration or Foreign Policy(Russia/Israel/Iran).

Well....he’d win. Put the pom poms down and use your brain, neither side is going to win by more than 3-4%

The presidential election is not a stinking beauty pageant. We should not be electing leaders on how they look or dress. I am so sick and tired of hearing about this or that candidate and how there gender or looks can win the vote. This election is about substance, character and experience in the real world. The world of tyrants, terrorist and dictators that would like to see this country in shambles. Palin sure ain’t no Maggie Thatcher, thats for sure.
