I have been hijacked by an adserver/virus. I am running AdAware, but does not fix problem. I consider myself tech-savvy, but this is ridiculous. Problem started this morninng, and occurs on FR, and any other website I visit. Any suggestions, or ideas? Thanks.

Yea, I figured They would arrive. However, I could be sold today.
Seriously, try to google the problem, by searching keywords that somehow describe specifically what is happening. There may be a fix out there already.
My boss is being attacked by “AntiSpyware”—can’t go to any website. I have deleted it through his programs, but keeps coming back!
it seems to be on a timer, and pops up every minute or so. the window that pops is not as small as a normal pop-up, and is a normal browser type window.
I’ve been on FR over 10 years and have yet to have so much as a pop-up. This is the best site on the net.
yea, me too. i’ve tried everything i can find, but still keeps coming back.
Virtumonde?
Try virtubegone, it will blue screen you but it works. Look for MSJUAN or MSTRACKING in the registry. If they are present that is your culprit.
Here’s a few tips:
1. Install AdAware and Spybot, and make sure both are updated. Also copy LSPFix and HijackThis, as well as any specialized tools that you might find (ie, rootkit utility). Then restart your computer into SAFE MODE and run the stuff in safe mode (no networking). That’ll be a start.
2. On the other hand, just back up your stuff and reformat+reload. That’s what 90% of the IT pros would do. At some point, you’re fighting a program that you’ll never find, that isn’t a virus on its own, but keeps “inviting its buddies” which are viruses. Cut your losses.
Once removed, in addition to AdAware (which just deletes the spyware), add “Spyware Blaster” -— which prevents the spyware in the first place.
Very effective.
You’re fighting a “ghost”... a program that isn’t a virus, but keeps replanting the virus.
Cut your losses, and reformat + reload. Ninety percent of the IT people will suggest doing that if you can’t kill it w/ standard tools.
What pops up? Does the webpage that pops up have a name or mention a product? Is there a specific error msg? Anything you can identify that is specific to your problem, google it. People usually post fixes out there.

I have not had a problem since instaling this
(look for the free home version)
Moved yet another laptop over to Linux last weekend. XP remains on only one of my 'pooters now (apart from work).
To your problem, someone else will have already suggested this, but try hijackthis
Use system restore, to fall back to a time well before when this occurred. Any programs or patches installed since the date of the restore point you choose will need to be re-installed.
In the future be sure to avaid using any restore points created in the last week or so.
If you could give more information, it would help.
Do you know where you acquired it?
Did you try one of those ‘scan my machine’ buttons on a website?
What is it doing? Redirecting your browser? Locking it? Creating pop-ups?
Come on. Give us some more info. Otherwise, we’re just guessing.
Failing that, wipe the disk and re-install.
It's the Winders way.
