I got my 1906 from my dad. His father paid $12 for it and gave it to my dad. My dad died in 2002 and left it to me. I learned to shoot with it and it's in rough shape. When I was a teenager I would buy a brick of 22s and shoot them all up over a weekend, so it's had a lot of use.
I would like to get a model 61 and a model 1897 shotgun. The 61 is the next in the pump action 22s that Winchester produced and the 1897 is the "companion shotgun" for the 1890 and 1906.

I have a Marlin model 989 semi-auto, love it, but I can't keep the damn thing working right. FTE's, FTF's, misfeeds - it's quite frustrating to shoot, actually. It has the same firing mechanism as the model 60, can anyone give me some suggestions as to what it may be? I can provide more info if needed. And before anyone asks, I have taken the entire mechanism down to it's component parts and given them a thorough swabbing, so, I know it's clean. Anyone have any suggestions?

"
Ruger series of autoloaders. From the Mark I to the 22/45, these are just workhorse handguns. These can take thousands of rounds. Take down is difficult, and in some cases even harder to put back together,"
When my hunting and shooting Buddy died, he bequeathed me all his firearms, and related accessories.
I knew he had taken both his Ruger MK1, and MK2 down completely, but didn't realize he hadn't put them back together!
I'm having one heck of a time figuring out what goes where! Usually, if I take something apart it's no problemo... however, here sits two perfectly good pistols that I'm afraid I'll have to enlist a smitty to do good by them! That or I'm going to have to get schematics from the factory!

Might need some smoothing of tooling marks. There is not a lot of 'finishing' done anymore at the major gunmakers, and 22's they crank out like popcorn at the moviehouse.
FTE/FTF can be caused by the chamber being a little 'tight' and probably could use some polishing, or the recoil spring is too stiff or the guide is in need of polish.

Actually, the gun is about 40 years old already - got it from my uncle. I’m thinking it’s worn parts, but I don’t know which ones to take a first stab at - I guess I should just do a complete rebuild.

Good start there green one! I'm going to make this one of my winter projects, and do it right!
I have another MK1 in the vault that I could break down, if needed, to get a clue on it's assembly.

MY favorite .22 is my AM-180 and my Ruger 10/22 with a John Norrell trigger pack. We have massacred hundreds of cottomouths (agkistrodon picusvous (sp)) on the minnow farms east of Little Rock.
When we go out at night, we put on our AN/PVS-14 on a rail mount, get a rabbit call, and wait for the coyotes to show up. Every once in a while , AR G&F come out and play with us (and make sure our depredation permit is valid) ;)
Increasingly, we are seeing LEA in Arkansas purchase .22 LR for taking out lights for SWAT team, and dispatching dangerous animals in the county.
All hail the .22 LR! (suppressed/FA)

In that case, I'd think the mainspring needs replacing. The velocity of the bolt is probably too fast. This could cause slipping the extractor off the case, or move the bolt too fast to pick up the next round correctly or not at all.
Generally, even with 10/22's the one thing that wears over time is the bolt/recoil mainspring.
