Information on Hebert’s Boxes - which are two defined areas in the Caribbean where the most destructive tropical hurricanes have passed before striking the Florida coast.

They’re not official science, but two points on a map of the world worry Treasure Coast weather buffs and forecasters alike when it comes to hurricanes.

And their names are Hebert’s Box 1 and Box 2.

That’s pronounced “A-Bear” to those who don’t know the long-time, now retired, National Weather Service meteorologist Paul Hebert. It was Hebert who spawned the theory that major storms that go through these two box-shaped areas in the Atlantic Ocean have a tendency to hit South Florida.
