Here we go. Two of the not pretty guns I can think of. One from the past and one from the present day. Next week: favorite movie guns.

I don’t know how to post pictures here but I have a Tanfoglio Single Action .22LR Revolver that is pretty darned ugly.
You can trust me on this one.

Some people think these are ugly:

Not very obscure, but how about a C96 Broomhandle Mauser?

I don’t recall seeing an ugly gun by design. Unusual and weird, yes. But that doesn’t make it ugly. What is ugly is finding a gun covered in rust.

This one's pretty homely. Not even lipstick and a tramp stamp could make it attractive.

Man oh man.. some ugly ones here, but I actually own a fugly piece. A hand-me-down from my old man, it could possibly be mistaken for a starter pistol. Titan Tiger 38. Yikes.

I’d nominate the Liberator pistol dropped to resistance fighters in WWII.
Stamped metal, ugly.
But beautiful if you need an effective way to relieve a German soldier
of their machine-pistol or Mauser rifle.

What were they thinking? All they had to do was put the barrels together and swivel the ignition system to fire at least two aimed shots. Too much manufacturing costs when a simple blunderbuss would have done the same thing. Supposedly, this was sold to sea captains for use against mutiny's.
And now for something completely different.
Second generation Mateba in .357 Magnum. The first generation is on my profile page and I think that one looks great. This one with the shorter barrel and the compensator looks just plain stupid. And ugly. The price for something that's not being made anymore was ugly too. At least they added scope mounting holes.

Edsel-ugly, and not too well liked by the troops:

I hope someone can come up with a picture of the M-79 grenade launcher (Viet Nam era, 40 mm bore I think). I always thought this would be the thing to discourage burglars. There was a picture once in Life magazine of a GI's girl friend toting one.
We made hundreds of them at Varo, Inc where I worked. Had a "firing range" out back which consisted of a length of 16" pipe with a 1" aluminum plate set at about 45 degrees for a berm.

While I admire many things British, music and comedy particularly, here are a couple of infamously ugly guns:
Sten 9mm subgun (WWII)
Bren LMG (WWII)
Of course, we made some pretty ugly guns back then, too. Case in point:
M3 Greasegun (WWII)
