At one time, our herd consisted of 50-55 cows. My dad, me and another milker worked 5AM to 7AM. School for me ,then again 6PM to 8PM.
There were maybe a third high butterfat/milk producers among them. Babied those suckers.

We had a smaller herd, but the times sound about right.
Still have one nephew with a lot larger herd , he’s 3rd or maybe 4th generation.
