I guess this ceremony can be described as being grandiose: large and impressive, in size, scope or extent

I heard the announcers say there are 1.3 billion. With that kind of dedicated work force, they can pretty much accomplish anything they put their minds to.

For the most part the soldiers are gone until the flag raising near the end of the show now.....then they return in all their goose stepping glory...just a forewarning.

I am not watching this but I ewas flipping by. I noticed Bob Costas said the NBC has a “china advisor” talking about or explaining various things going on during the opening ceremony. Gee its too bad there was not a souther advisor for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. NBC could have hired Lewis Grizzard. I believe he was still alive in 1996.

My responses to some of your comments:

Communism works for those on the receiving end.

China doesn't involve themselves directly in wars, they provide weapons, etc. to our enemies behind the scenes.

If they don't care what goes on in the rest of the world, why are they so intent on spying on the rest of the world, gaining our military and missile secrets?

From what I understand, China takes the children who show Olympic potential away from their families, and send them to training facilities.
