The NBC guys just announced that it’s important to know those kids were randomly picked from the countryside, and the state protects their future.
wtf?

In honor of the Chinese national anthem, I’m going to go and move my bowels. Be right back.

I'm watching it with the kids and we were all creeped out. The drummers were told to smile more (as they banged their war drums) so it would not be so intimidating - right - that worked good - it was even creepier when they smiled.
Putin is sitting a few seats away from President Bush. Wow. Ah - they are playing The March of the Volunteers - a nice little commie ditty for everyone to hum along to.

This seems like a good time to post another Old Glory.

The soldiers are eerie.
Yeah, I know. BTW, my uncle fought in the Korean War and my father was stationed there a few years after the war ended. They might have faced down their fathers or grandfathers.

National Anthem playing is entitled March of the Volunteers? Like they have any choice?

At least there is no more Katie. I wanted to throw something at her (heavy and preferably pointy) during the Salt Lake ceremonies.

The color shifts from the fireworks are ‘over the top’ cool...

Very true. My great uncle was in the Korean War, also.

They are! The ones at the very start were incredible. It looked like the stadium was on fire for a second.
