2008 Olympics begin August 8th through to August 24. Live streaming on CBC begins with the opening ceremonies early am. NBC in prime time in evening.
I am. I’m watching CBC Vancouver on Comcast in Tacoma.
I was trying to find other streaming video for those Freepers without access to CBC...unfortunately, without success.
Yeah NBC having paid billions for the rights guards it jealously apparently.
Ooooh....’smiley-face’ fireworks. Neato.
Sarah Brightman singing...very nice.
ALERT: Parade of Nations is coming next.
And as always...GREECE leads the way.....
Not sure how the US will come in the order. A famous screw up from the 1976 olympics was ABC going to commercials just as the US team entered the stadium because they thought they would be listed under U instead of the French spelling they used of Etats Unis.
Wait a minute....TURKEY already? Now YEMEN???
They’re seemingly out of sequence!
What alphabet are they using?????
yeah....me thinks maybe the Chinese...so stay alert....the US could come in anytime :)
First, the A’s, then the T’s, then Y, now M’s....
Anyone see a pattern...because I DON’T.
I haven’t a CLUE where the US is going to be!
The only thing I can think of is that they’re doing them by size of the delegation. They seem to be getting larger...sort of.
Israel arrives....yeah no pattern....again my guess is they are using the Chinese alphabet for order
I wonder if the tradition that was started in 1936 will continue this year....
As each flag passed before the reviewing stand where Hitler sat, each flag dipped in salute....
...all EXCEPT for the United States of America. The flag bearer (whose name escapes me) said “This flag bows before no earthly king or potentate”. And, as far as I know, the US flag has NEVER dipped before an Olympic reviewing stand to this day.
There were a couple of U nations clustered but Ron just said they are using the Chinese alphabet for order. Then he added that is a bit of a misnomer since there is no Chinese alphabet so they may be going by whatever order the Chinese language uses.
And here’s Canada!
Just turned on my TV. I’m able to watch via CKWS out of Kingston, Ontario. Unfortunately it’s a digital channel, not in HD. Crappy picture.
That’s a shame...watching in HD here...picture is good. No idea when the US will pop up...no shots of W yet unless I missed some...they are showing whatever official for each country is there to greet their team when they march in.
What the bloody blue blazes was that????
We haven’t come in yet.
