2008 Olympics begin August 8th through to August 24. Live streaming on CBC begins with the opening ceremonies early am. NBC in prime time in evening.
We're practically neighbors!! Well, not really. I'm in Rome, New York, but grew up in Rochester. My mother was born in Canada...Picton, Ontario to be exact. She came to the US as a little girl. After my Mom died in '90, I went to Picton to find out about my family history, and track down some of my ancestors' graves. I met cousins I'd never knew I had, and learned that we were related to Tim Horton. Hadn't heard of him before then.
ALERT: 10 to go to the United States!
I saw the President! He’s got a set of binoculars.

USA!USA!USA!USA!
the US arrives....W and Laura look great
Just caught the pic of the President & Mrs. Bush.
Most excellent!
announcers thought they saw Henry Kissinger and his wife there too...I guess the link with the diplomatic opening to China during the Nixon years
My first thought when I saw them focus on the trio was “is that Kissinger?” Then I thought, no, why would he be there? But of course it makes perfect sense that he would be.
The next major events: China’s team entry, the Olympic flag raising, the Oaths of the Competitors and Officials, and the arrival of the Olympic Torch and Cauldrom Lighting.
Coffee Break!
Let's see if they do lunch over the "Georgia" problem.

60+ nations still to go...then the Olympic flag raising with the Olympic Hymn...to me usually the most moving moment followed by the lighting of the flame
I saw Princess Anne and Sarkozy earlier too. Pootie looked out of place there. They just said Hamid Karzai is there too.
The arrow lighting from Barcelona was the most spectacular flame lighting I have seen.
Just watching the Netherlands marching in. I always enjoy seeing them. That’s where my Dad was born.
