Here's IMO, the best holster ever for Chief Specials or Colt Detectives. As far as I know it is the only upside down holster made that was any good. It was originally made by Bianchi back in the 60's.

I have 6 holsters of varying arrangments. I also have 2 T-shirt holsters to wear under a loose shirt and 3 511 shirts with hidden velcro pockets in which I can carry my Kimber ultraraptor 45 or my Glock 27 with no printing or discomfort.

All thru my Sr year of college and in the military I carried OWB in either Bianchi or Safariland. I finally discovered the advantages to IWB in Milt Sparks and much later I found
Sam Andrews (who became a personal friend). But as my belt line grew IWB became a double edged sword, offering superb concealment but much discomfort as the butt started to to gore my love handles turned into lifting bars. The solution came along in the way of so called "sweat guards." Then along came KYDEX and one of the first and arguably still the best of those brands is
BLADE TECH and I have many of their holsters which I find utterly comfortable but still tended to drag my pants low. Only in the last six or eight months have I discovered the perfect IWB holster that won't drag my pants low, that is 100% comfy and concealable without an extra cover garment here in Miami, FL. That it's run by Christians is a bonus. I refer to
CROSSBREED. Their premium holster is the SUPER TUCK DELUXE and I have purchased two of them, so far. Costing much less than others of comparable quality I paid about $60 for my first and they offer a two week trial and a money back guarantee.
Finally, while I love FR and spend much time here I also spend a lot of time (under the same screen name) over at DEFENSIVE CARRY. The rules there are strict in standards of conduct: NO FLAME WARS or foul language will be tolerated. But it's a great place for talk on guns. Everybody hangs there, all levels of skill and all backgrounds. Lots of cops and soldiers/marines and every day folks, including a lot of the gals. The MODS are awesome and very responsive. Can't say enough good stuff about the site.

Nearly everyone who starts carrying ends up with a collection of holsters as they discover what works for them. It is a very personal issue, as peoples needs, builds, and habits all differ considerably.
I like the idea of everyone telling what works for them, but I don’t think that comments to the effect of “this should never be used” are very helpful. Everything works for someone at some time.

With respect to the carry purses - I don't much care for off-body. Has all sorts of disadvantages.
I carry like this:

The one that caught my eye is the
Cross Breed IWB "supertuck". Very comfortable on the hip, almost invisible (see the video)and it works very well.

I've carried a Taurus 85/S&W J frame for years in the same Wild Bill's pocket holster. Made of inside out horse hide.

Ah, Tuesday gun porn! Gotta love it. Used to carry IWB with one of the Galcos mentioned earlier but I don't anymore because the waistbands on my trousers seem all to have shrunken. Funny how that is. The inseams are exactly the same size but the waistbands...they're smaller.
Summers are tough. A Kahr on the belt doesn't print much more than a cellphone (and less than some of the monsters I'm seeing on the kiddies - is that a laptop on yer belt or are ya glad to see me?) Come fall, though, it's more often a 1911 in a Hellweg Tactical Speed rig my IPSC-shootin' bro got me for Christmas one year. It isn't a universal solution and some people hate 'em. For me it tucks that big ol' .45 right alongside my tummy and hardly prints at all. Fair retention for a speed holster. It just fits. Mr. Glock belongs in Kydex ("combat Tupperware" sneers one of my shooting partners but he's probably gay. I hope you're reading this, Roger.) ;-)
Then there's this weird fabric-and-elastic thingy I got at a gun show one time. It goes over your underwear and under your pants. At need you dig your hand down your waistband and come up with Mr. Happy. You can also do that not wearin it. Dunno...it seemed like a good idea at the time...

A fanny pack, such as the GALCO, works very well for concealment. Though, to gun people, it does scream “gun”, I doubt that many people on the street know that a gun is inside.
Fanny pack holsters are made by all the major holster manufacturers, plus some manufacturers that are not associated with the firearms trade. Example Camelback has hydration packs, which also have a holster built into them.
