I hope I haven’t led either of you astray.

It looks like WalMart no longer lists that model (first link).
Having watched some lawncare product vanish from the shelves at
WalMart this summer...it could be they’ve just sold out of their
allotment of that camera (or realized they shouldn’t sell such a good deal?)

But it does appear to be available from some other outlets (second link).
While those places may be reputable, I do admit a prejudice for WalMart
as I NEVER had a returned product accepted (even for just the reason
of “it’s not what I wanted”) and got my purchase price fully refunded
IN CASH.

Something that certainly doesn’t happen at other major retailers
that will remain un-named (I don’t want to be sued!)

So far, it's looking it's going to come down to a Samsung, or a Canon. I found a Canon a470 Powershot at Butterfly Photo (Thanks Shooter 2.5!) and we had Canon Powershots before they croaked. They were GREAT cameras, and we had them for about six years. I'm pretty sure I fried one taking photos of one of my sons welding (I think I was just TOO close and the electromagnetic field zapped it), and it's hard to say about the other one. Both of these cameras survived THREE teenagers for many years!

Either way, I appreciate you all pointing me in the right direction. I really wished I had a functioning camera today when the call for gun porn went out! Ah well...soon! THANKS!

They've (Walmart, I mean) got S860’s, black, 8.1mp, for $89.99 or so, and three of the 6 stores within a hundred miles of here have them in stock. I'm in the OKC metro area, YMMV. When our L-60’s die, we'll replace them with something else from Samsung. I used to like Canon cameras, and I still like their SLR’s, but the professional digital camera that is compatible with my EOS Elan 7 35mm SLR is over a grand. Heck, the amateur version is nearly that. I can no longer justify such expenditures on photo equipment. I don't use it professionally anymore.
