Sig226 came up with this great idea on one of the numerous 1911 threads last week. I volunteered for a day as have Shooter, Sig, and DaveLoneRanger. We could use a few more contributors and even if you would just like to participate we can always use the noticability.
Please FReepmail me to be added to the FRGC PING LIST.
Enjoy. Share. Add.
Here are just some of my favorites. I will add more pics as the day goes on.
Just as an addition. I work in the largest gun shop in New Mexico on Saturdays. I get to handle new and old firearms of every type. There are no prejudices as far as firearms go. Each has a niche for price, utility or budget. Our goal with the FRGC is to have fun, share experiences, educate, and above all keep our 2nd Amendment hobby alive.
As for the Taurus 1911, we have sold a BUNCH of these. Well made, fairly accurate and reliable, we have not heard one complaint about these clones. They have a lot of features you will see on the more expensive Kimbers for about half the price. Good value.

Another one of my babies. A Hamilton Bowen converted Ruger Redhawk in .475Linebaugh (started out as a relatively anemic .44MAG). 420gr @ 1400FPS makes a pretty impressive hole.

So let's see 'em. The pretty ones, the ugly ones and the dusty ones including the old favorite grampa gave us when he passed on. Does this one count? You may have seen it around before.

I'm still working on this one. It was going to be my IDPA competition pistol but so far, it's in pieces. I sent it back to the factory because the sights were so far off. 18 inches high at 60 yards. They did a nice job in replacing the rear sight and it's dead on. Last week it had about 300 rounds through it but a sharp corner on the grip safety caused my hand to "not be happy". I can't get the thumb safeties off to correct that. Gloves?
IDPA? Seriously dude, there are no 60 yard shots in IDPA, the ones at 30 are rare. Though I understand your concern for accuracy.
Also, gloves are illegal in IPDA. A dremel might take care of the sharp corner on the grip safety, though a gunsmith buddy has told me that shooters with Dremel tools are his best customers...

Love that Mod. 27. There's just something about old Smiths... There's something about N-Frames...

Love that Mod. 27.
There's just something about old Smiths... Concur.
But some of the recent odderings from S&W aren't too shabby either.

We have our disagreements in some areas, but in the area of things that go "BANG", I think we're of the same mind.
That being said, here's one of the new additions to the Lurker Arsenal:
I love it. Mines sporting a LaserMax on the rail. Sweet little pistol.
Please be so kind as to add me to your Friday Gun Porn Ping List when you have it.

Oooh! Both of our digital cameras are on the blink, but IF I can get one to work, I’ll post something! Thanks! :-)

I really love this one. Did a side by side comparison with my buddies 8 inch Python. The Smith trigger was better, recoil was about the same, but his groups were about 3/4 inch bigger than mine. I’m fighting the temptation to get a holster for it.

One of my few non-S&W wheel guns, a Colt King Cobra snubbie
A Model 60, or as I call it, a Baby 686! A great little trail gun when you're watching your weight.
Some bright and shinies from the safe!
On the left, a High Standard, a Glock 34, a Beretta .32
On the right, Taurus 85, a S&W 625, and a Ruger Blackhawk.

Ruger Redhawk in .475Linebaugh Too much gun for me! Unless I was hiking in grizzly-bear country.
Some years ago a guy I knew got one of SW's new .500 mags -- I had to put it down after three shots.
A man's gotta know his limitations!
