Two men were arrested on Monday in Kalmar in southern Sweden on suspicions of assault for using a pair of scissors to cut away another man’s tattoos.

The incident is alleged to have taken place last weekend and involved two young men who for some reason decided to forcefully remove several tattoos from a third man, reports the Oskarshamns Tidningen

The men used the scissors to cut away the tattoos, removing chunks of skin in the process.

According to police, several tattoos were taken off completely, while others were partially removed.

Police remain uncertain as to the relationship between the two men and the victim, and are still searching for a motive in the case.

“We have no motive, no exact crime location or time,” said police spokesperson Sven-Erik Karlsson told Oskarshamns Tidningen.

“The two who have been arrested aren’t exactly talking themselves to death, so to speak.”

Injuries to the man with the missing tattoos were not life threatening, and he was able to leave the hospital after being bandaged up by doctors, said Karlsson.

He was reportedly heavily intoxicated at the time of the attack, and has been unwilling to cooperate with police in their investigation.

The two men being held were apprehended following tips from witnesses and police surveillance work.

They are being held on suspicions of gross assault.

One of the worst misspellings I’ve seen was the classic US Navy anchor tattoo on a Boatswain’s Mate. Navy was spelled “NAVEY.” The tat was done in the Phillipines.

There are some pretty elaborate temporary tattoo tramp stamps. I pray those girls just had temporary tattoos.

(I can’t imagine an 8 or 10 year old girl would have the pain tolerance to get a real tattoo.)

That was my concern, if those were, in fact, real tattoos, then what else was going on there?

The "tear" ... now that's a scary one.

"Typically a gang tattoo, the teardrop is regrettable for two reasons. This small tattoo makes the wearer appear to be crying. Why? Because in America, the teardrop signifies the wearer murdered someone. So the first layer of regret is in the remorse the wearer feels for his misdeed. But the second form of regret comes when the wearer wakes up one morning and thinks to himself, "Wait a second, everybody in the whole world now knows that I'm a killer. Just because of this stupid little teardrop on my face." Then the real regret sinks in. Imagine one of these teardrop ex-killers on a job interview. I wouldn't even want to take a spicy chicken sandwich from one of these guys at Wendy's. Interestingly enough, in Australia, the teardrop means something totally different. It is inked onto child molesters in prison against their will in order to mark them for regular beatings and rapes. Talk about regret."
