I don't see any need for them to answer to anyone about how they run their family.

This may surprise you, but in this I agree as long as thy;re paying the full cost for the kids. What I find amazing is the number of posters on this thread that think this is a good idea. I think I've wandered into a fundamentalist bible thumping alternative universe - keep 'em barefoot and pregnant. What ever gives people the idea that uncontrolled reproduction is a conservative value. If this were the case then you could call every crack ho with a brood a conservative.

Okay, here's some practical reality on your feminist philosophy. The next generation doesn't just pop out of the ground fully formed. This generation has to give birth to them and raise them. Unless you have some kind of scientific advancement, the mother has to give birth. The mother has to recover from birth, and the mother has to nurse the baby. Furthermore, the mother is far more likely to choose to stay home with the children to raise them in their younger years than the father. A family with two married parents with the father as breadwinner and mother as caretaker/homemaker has been shown in study after study to produce the best children. In fact, the vast majority of children who make it to college come from homes with both parents married.

What we have now is a generation of adults who sacrificed what is best for their kids for their own comfort and happiness. Don't have kids until later (if you have any at all), put your career first, put them on formula because it takes too much time to nurse them, and keep your kids in daycare all day, and maybe forget one in the car to die while you are in the office furthering your career like we saw in the news so much this past year. If we are going back to "a fundamentalist bible thumping alternative universe", then maybe we will get a better generation in the future.

Why? FR is quite pro-life in general.

I think I've wandered into a fundamentalist bible thumping alternative universe - keep 'em barefoot and pregnant.

I assure that Michelle Duggar is an accomplished woman who is also invariably shod. Perhaps I could point out at this juncture that I find it amazing that a poster on FR would echo the expected commentary of Gloria Steinem.

What ever gives people the idea that uncontrolled reproduction is a conservative value.

Is reproduction a disease that needs to be controlled? You definitely come to this issue with a very fervent yet unexamined attitude.

If this were the case then you could call every crack ho with a brood a conservative.

Ah, "brood" - the same contemptuous language that equates people with beasts.

People who have a principled opposition to contraception generally have a principled opposition to fornication as well.
