Get a financial aid award letter from each school, visit and talk to students and faculty, and then decide.
Few actually pay full sticker price.

Our son went away to school — Notre Dame, in Indiana. We are in So California. He thot it would be just about far enough, but when it came to Thanksgiving and weekends that he just wanted to come home, he could NOT. It was too far, travel was too complicated and expensive/ last minute. He had to stay at NDU over Thanksgiving, but all his friends went home/ lived locally.
This year he will be at a local college. He is so content, being near home. Can get home if he needs. We can get to him if we need without much problem.
Also, he doesn’t have to change car registration, voter registration, pay out-of-state tuition, etc.
I highly recommend a university in your same state, and he would say that too.
