RGVTx reporting in.
We survived with only tree damage. Some trees hit the house but only bent a bit of gutter. We are doing the limbo to get to and from our home. It was bad here. Didn’t think it was ever going to stop. Power just came back on in the last half hour. We are so thankful! Cell phone service is sporadic and my only means of internet connection. Dish TV is still working except all local channels are off air. I discovered it doesn’t matter if you have cable or dish neither work when the power goes out...LOL!

Going to try to catch up on the thread. Thanks to all who kept us in your thoughts and prayer.

Ah RGVTx, there you are! Glad to hear from you.

CD, I don't know about looting, because we're still without power. One of our employee's made it up from Brownsville, he said they were in pretty good shape down there, but there was talk about the water rising from the drainage into the Rio.

Mercedes is underwater and the expressway is closed, I hear.

McAllen is pretty torn up, hubby has gone out for gas for the gens and said there was a lot of damage. It wouldn't surprise me if some fools were grabbing stuff.

All through the night we listened to KURV 710 am. They opened up the lines for people to exchange information, and it was inspiring to hear how positive people were. Also people were helping others, and that's always a nice thing to hear when things are so iffy.

There were some funny stories and some things that just made you mad. Someone around Mercedes said they were on top of their house, as the water was so high. The DJ got the emergency managers on the phone, and asked them to go help them. They said, “They should have thought of that and gone to a shelter. We don't go out in storms like this” Sheeeesh. Some kind soul got their boat out and retrieved them.

There was a guy in a motel room in the dark with no food or water. Even the vending machine wouldn't work because it took electricity. Poor guy, I hope he got some food.

The funniest one was a guy who suggested someone call the Air Force and drop a bomb on Dolly to see if they couldn't get it moving!

Who would have ever thought you could get such great entertainment for the price of three AA batteries?
Kudo’s to KURV. Everyone said they were a lifeline..and they were.
