It’s been one tornado warning after another this last hour. We just took shelter in the bathroom this last time. Is this normal for this many tornados with a storm?

It's possible to have several hundred plus tornadoes caused by one hurricane. Most are small.

In general, tornadoes associated with hurricanes are less intense than those that occur in the Great Plains (see the Fujita Intensity Scale below). Nonetheless, the effects of tornadoes, added to the larger area of hurricane-force winds, can produce substantial damage.”

A friend told me that Hurricane Hugo generated around 3000 tornadoes but I can't confirm that.
