Okay, I’m finding these sources more than a bit questionable. A 1206 SAT, while not bad, is not nor has it been in the 95th-percentile of test takers.

With the old SATs that Bush would have taken, a 600 on both verbal and math would convert to a 670 verbal and a 600 in math on the new scale. That’s a 1270 SAT score. Decent. But probably not good enough to get him into a top 25 school today without some serious connections.

Just as a reference, the average 25th-75th percentiles at Emory University are 1300-1470. At Yale, where Bush did his undergraduate work, they’re 1390 - 1580.

Granted, things are a lot more competitive today with more emphasis on standardized tests, but I’m pretty doubtful about these conversions.

That’s not a knock on Bush, but on the surface, I’m not convinced.
