Read the names of the suspects and I think you'll get a clearer picture of what happened.

What clearer picture? Three of them were named Evans...?

I have to admit that the names did not help much.

However, Googling the names yielded a hit that shows that one of the Evans, Anthony Gildersleeve and Terry Arnold were all black males with prior records:

What are CAPRS? These guys seem to have lot of them, so can’t be anything good.
