Well, at least this woman may face some prison time.
From the link at the bottom of the article:

“The charge is a felony offense, punishable by four years of incarceration and/or $5,000, up to 500 hours of community service, and restitution for the cost of care and housing for the animals.

The court may also order that the defendant will not be able to own or possess any animals. Prosecutor Fink used a new Michigan law that elevates the level of criminal prosecution when ten or more animals are abused.”

Personally, I think a fitting punishment is the same treatment as she gave those poor dogs.

Hope I don’t see any more of these articles.
Makes you wonder how often this happens, just not reported.

I have a sister who is not far away from being in the same boat. Since her divorce 15 years ago she has gone from a very nice lifestyle and an expensive home, to extreme poverty and living in filth. And her mental heath has also suffered during this time, refusing to take any of her brothers and sisters advice. She is living in a mobile home full of rubbish with 6 dogs, 2 of them pregnant, and 2 of them beautiful black Labs, who spend much of their day in 8x8 kennels. The dogs are not starving, but still it makes me sad to see those dogs have to live that way, especially the labs. They deserve better. In her mind they are her children and she won't part with any of them.
