It would be nice to know. However I have broadband and have never been able to fax from it. I think it works only with a modem and regular phone service.

I have seen faxing from email software but never tried it.

Some free ones (text only or attach a pdf) are Freefax.com and Mail2Web.com. Also, eFax.com has a free and pay service (it is good for receiving faxes in your email.

Also, eFax.com has a free and pay service (it is good for receiving faxes in your email.

I'm an eFax customer and I've been happy with it. Like you mentioned, I get my faxes in an email, so I don't have to be waiting by a fax machine for a fax. Also, the interface to send out faxes is dead simple as well; it doesn't use a modem to send out faxes, but uses your existing internet connection.
