This brings back memories!!! Went to my brothers grad at PI in 1968. He received his orders for VN 10 minutes after grad was complete.

He received his orders for VN 10 minutes after grad was complete.
The process back in the 60s was for new Marines to only be informed of their MOS assignment (desk clerk, artillery, grunt, etc.), not orders for VN. After PI they went to to advanced infantry training at Camp Geiger, a few miles from Camp Lejeune.
After that training they received further orders for their MOS school, if appropriate, or they may have received orders for VN.

There was a lot of that goin' around back then...certainly in the Marines and in the Army too.God somehow didn't want me in Vietnam so He never allowed any Army Personnel clerk to complete such orders.

Hope your brother made it back OK.
